How to participate in the Online Consultation of Civil Society
Organizations´ Proposals to the FAO Guidelines on Responsible
Governance of Land and Natural Resources Tenure
Following the process for the elaboration of the civil society document set out by the International Facilitating Team at the beginning of 2010, the drafting committee has prepared the first draft for wide consultation.
The document has been drafted based on the outcomes on the four regional consultations held in Kuala Lumpur, Brasilia, Rome and Nyèlèni and on the inputs collected through an online questionnaire. The reports of these four CSO consultations can be found elsewhere on the website.
Methodology for the online consultation on the CSO Document:
The first draft of the CSO document is available for circulation among all participants of the regional consultations and all interested persons and organizations (see attached document).
Commentators are encouraged to send their comments preferably in
concrete wording to improve, complement or amend the text whenever
As this first draft is the outcome of the four CSO regional consultations it contains core elements that should be respected.
People sending comments are requested to state on whose behalf the comments are sent, i.e. individually, or on behalf of a local, national, regional, international organization, NGO, peoples organization, and the like.

The second draft will be prepared in December 2010. This draft will be discussed and finally validated in regional meetings facilitated by the members of the International Facilitating Team.
The final version of the CSO document should be ready by mid February the latest, in order to coincide with the finalisation of the FAO first draft, which is scheduled for March 2011.
